The Crested Butte Land Trust has facilitated the preservation of more than 6,000 acres of land to preserve scenic areas, wildlife habitats and fragile ecosystems; protect agricultural and ranching uses; and enhance access to public lands.

The Zapata Ranch is a 103,000-acre bison and guest ranch in the San Luis Valley of Southern Colorado,

owned by The Nature Conservancy.

It borders the Great Sand Dunes National Park.
